Inside the experiment+

A very soft nervous system.

An original gelatin character, sculpted as a smooth union of hemispheres, temporal lobes and a two-part cerebellum. Deep fissures divide the lobes; winding sulci and fine cerebellar folia shape the glossy skin.

The surface was polygonised once with surface nets on a 1.7 mm grid. Its — vertices live inside a BCC volume of — particles and — tetrahedra. XPBD elasticity and volume constraints run at 60 Hz with eight substeps. Averaged deformation cofactors carry the sculpted normals.

Rigid candy eyes follow the best-fit rotation of nearby jelly. Two moving lid planes, wandering pupils, blinks and tiny saccades do the acting. Thirty nerve threads carry refracted pulses through the body.

Leave it alone for about thirty seconds and it falls asleep. Fast strokes tickle. Too many pokes make it grumpy. A hard landing brings stars; a zap is a very bad idea it will forgive.

Six three.js WebGL2 scene passes combine tinted soft shadows, contact occlusion, interior light, view-ray thickness, absorption and refraction, then PBR Neutral tone mapping. Sound is synthesised locally; nothing needs the internet.
